What is this?

When I originally had the idea for Small Vices, I was picturing a traditional TV show. So a lot of the time, I refer to it as a TV show. Each episode has a similar runtime to a traditional TV show (24 minutes), and will be available to watch for free on social media channels in 3 minute chunks. So, a web series? A TV show? You decide.

Why made for smart phones?

In the last twenty years, cinema has made a huge leap from the theater to our pocket screens. In traditional movies and television, the aspect ratio is completely different, and the original creation has to be cropped or made smaller to fit the display.

Small Vices is an attempt at creating something that is beautiful to look at and experience on your phone (and can be made even better with good headphones). The visual compositions of the show are designed to look good at a small scale, and to engage the format of the smart phone screen in new and exciting ways.

Why short-form video?

The show’s original format is not short-form video, it is 24 minute long episodes. This length of time is not able to be standardized across social media platforms, but 3 minute videos are. Each episode breaks down into 8 chapters of 3 minutes, and this will allow the show to be viewed by the widest audience possible.

By publishing the show to these platforms, and introducing a continuing narrative into this space, we are combating the un-connectedness of the “doom scroll”.

When is the release date?

The World Premiere of Small Vices will take place December 5th, 2025, in Charlotte, NC, at VisArt Video.

Digital release date is still TBD.
